Regulatory & Compliance Manager
The Compliance Manager will work to assure product compliance with applicable North American federal and state regulations in the environmental and safety area.

Let us describe the challenge we offer
The Compliance Manager will work to assure product compliance with applicable North American federal and state regulations in the environmental and safety area. You will ensure that Polestar is fully knowledgeable about the future actions of Government Agencies in these areas, and you will work in close collaboration with both external counterparts and internal Polestar stakeholders. Our Quality department works to ensure the quality in Polestar products throughout the life cycle of our product and services. This role is part of our global Quality function and will be based in our North American Office in Mahwah, New Jersey. This position will require up to 10% overnight travel.
What you’ll do
- Act as Polestar’s representative in dealing with government officials and trade associations in all vehicle related regulatory/compliance matters
- Analyze future regulations and their effect on Polestar’s products
- Hold regular check-ins with HQ stakeholders to secure required product development
- Develop policies and procedures, coordinate all environment and safety defect investigations, and recall campaigns
- Arrange meetings with government agencies where necessary
- Support campaign launches and follow-up (customer communication, reporting etc)
- For future US produced cars coordinate production related requirements for global markets
- Manage product launch criteria from the certification and compliance perspectives, holding the authority to raise red flags and the responsibility to collaborate with other teams in the process
Who you are
- 10+ years of experience in a relevant position
- 7+ years of experience in the automotive regulatory environment in the US and Canada
- Broad knowledge of the inner workings (politics, networking) of the government agencies that are responsible for creating the programs that directly impact the business
- Ability to create partnerships and build relationships to resolve issues of potentially sensitive nature
- Ability to communicate, negotiate, make presentations to large groups, and act as a Polestar spokesperson
- Ability to systematically analyze and be sensitive to public issues, utilizing the information to develop strategies
- Ability to consider a broad range of internal and external factors when solving problems and exhibit sound judgment in determining responses to situations
- Ability to understand complex regulations and evolve in developmental policies
