The opportunity
As Polestar grows, we need to continue to strengthen our Global Control Assurance team. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a fast-paced and challenging organization. We're currently looking for an ESG Officer to develop and maintain internal controls in relation to ESG. We are looking for someone with a passion for electric mobility, an interest in technology, and a desire to create the change we know is needed.
This position is located at Head Quarter, Gothenburg, Sweden. We believe in a hybrid model when it comes to remote and onsite work, knowing that both in-person collaboration and individual time to focus are needed. What matters most is that people get the time, and support, to do what needs to be done. And enjoy doing it, of course.
The responsibilities
You’ll join a global, dynamic team that currently consists of fourteen colleagues. Your main responsibility will be to advise ESG operations in terms of process and controls, to support ESG reporting. You’ll be working closely with the Sustainability team.
Key responsibilities/activities will include:
- Develop and maintain internal controls over ESG data collection, validation, and reporting to ensure accuracy and audit readiness.
- Ensure ESG disclosures comply with applicable regulations.
- Partner with related stakeholders to integrate ESG metrics into financials.
- Support sustainability reporting to ensure completeness and accuracy from an internal control perspective.
- Monitor evolving ESG regulations and reflect on process and controls.
- Lead and participate in Project Management. Provide Guidance to team, support team to kickoff, milestone, deliver and close Key Projects.
- Interact with different functions within the organization, such as Operations, Finance, Digital and management.
- Provide and facilitate Internal Control related training.
The ideal candidate
To succeed in this role, and at Polestar in general, there are a few characteristics you'll need to have. Tenacity. Flexibility. Curiosity. The ability to take the initiative, to meet deadlines and requirements, and to abandon ideas when they're not feasible.
- Extensive knowledge of ESG frameworks and requirements in various regions/countries such as EU, the UK and the US
- Experience in ESG related to process identification and control implementation
- Experience in ESG data management tools is preferred
- Experience in Multi-national Companies is preferred
- Experience in US listed companies and familiar with US SOX Compliance is preferred
- You understand and can communicate with stakeholders on different levels within different areas.
- Structured with great project management skills and can prioritize based on relevance.
- You thrive by working in a fast-paced environment. You are a fast learner who can embrace change and adapt quickly to accommodate the needs of a growing business.
- As part of an international business, you are expected to be fluent in English in both written and oral communication.
In addition, you'll need the following qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in a relevant position
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Sustainability or other relevant areas
- Certifications such as CESGA or GRI are preferred
