The opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Business Controller to join our Finance team in Sweden, ensuring our market receives the strategic financial support it needs. This role is ideal for a driven professional with a passion for electric mobility, a strong interest in technology, and a commitment to driving meaningful change.
Based at our Gothenburg office, this is an onsite position where you will work closely with and provide critical support to the Head of Finance for Sweden and the Nordics, to whom you will report directly.
The responsibilities
In this role, you'll be responsible for certain month-end closing activities for the market and preparing necessary reports and accruals for the accounting cluster. You will need to control and approve invoices and requisitions. The role also includes monitoring cost of internal cars together with relevant stakeholders. It is expected that you work with process improvements as well as being the point of contact for business colleagues and shared service center for invoice related issues and local requirements of retail and fleet. Working as a member of our Finance Team you'll have a key supporting role towards the Head of Finance Sweden & Nordics and other relevant stakeholders such as PSU Management. This consist of correct, timely data and analyses as well as other finance administrational tasks.

Financial Leadership & Strategic Oversight
- Market Financial Performance: Oversee financial performance within your market, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Strategic & Financial Balance: Integrate financial expertise with a deep understanding of commercial strategies to drive profitable growth.
- Financial Statements & Compliance: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of statutory financial statements, P&L, and balance sheet management.
- Profitability & Growth: Maintain a strong focus on sales margins, operational expansion, and cash flow optimization.
- Accountability & Transparency: Uphold bottom-line responsibility while maintaining high transparency with Headquarters’ Global functions.
- Governance & Compliance: Lead internal control activities, structured financial processes, and ensure SOX compliance across all financial tasks.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with local operational teams on strategic initiatives and day-to-day business operations.
- Global Coordination: Collaborate with Polestar’s global operational teams and finance & accounting divisions, including General Accounting, PTP, OTC, Treasury, and FP&A.
- Financial Planning & Analysis: Oversee revenue and cost planning, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Business Case Development: Drive the preparation of business cases, ensuring timely input from key stakeholders.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Support management with dashboards, KPIs, and in-depth financial analyses to enhance strategic decision-making.
- Process Optimization: Identify process gaps, drive problem-solving initiatives, and implement automation and efficiency improvements.
- Leadership & Team Development: Manage and mentor the financial controller, ensuring effective onboarding and development.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the key finance liaison for NGA partners, ensuring seamless collaboration and alignment with financial objectives.

To be a great fit for this position we believe you have:
- A strong financial background, ideally in controlling within a commercial sector—automotive experience is a plus
- 5–10 years of relevant experience
- SOX experience (advantageous)

- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- A results-driven, pragmatic mindset with the ability to prioritize effectively
- Self-leadership and a keen sense of business acumen
