The opportunity
We're currently looking for a PR Manager to Polestar Sweden to join our Marketing team to continue building Polestar’s high brand awareness and positive relationship with local media and journalists. With a passion for electric mobility, an interest in technology, and a desire to create the change we know is needed.
The Marketing team is responsible for Polestar’s brand awareness through external communication of the company’s brand and products in owned channels, and in bought and earned media. The PR Manager works as an integrated part of the Marketing team with a total of five other colleagues and reports to the Head of Marketing.
This position is located at our office in Gothenburg, and we believe in a hybrid model when it comes to remote and onsite work, knowing that both in-person collaboration and individual time to focus are needed. We therefore encourage all candidates to apply, given the nature is to be close to the media. What matters most is that people get the time, and support, to do what needs to be done. The responsibilities
In this role, you'll be expected to own Polestar’s relationship with media in Sweden by being the primary point of contact, handle all incoming questions related to the company and its products, and act as a spokesperson for the company. Working as a member of the Swedish Marketing team, you'll be instrumental in helping to continue building a positive brand awareness through earned media, as well as maintaining a positive brand and product reputation for the company. You will also support the Marketing team as needed to ensure alignment of external communication across all verticals, as well as advise and assist colleagues in other departments in matters related to external communication to ensure consistent tone of voice and uniform messaging. - Daily media monitoring to keep track of Polestar in the press and other relevant industry topics, and act to correct erroneous information about Polestar
- Translation, adaption, and localization of global communication materials for media, as well as creation and development of local communication
- Evaluate requests for speaking opportunities and support spokespersons as needed, as well as other requests for sponsoring and collaboration in various contexts, and manage such activations together with the Marketing team
- Identify, engage, and collaborate with brand ambassadors and influencers to amplify Polestar’s presence and reputation in relevant digital and social media channels
- Manage the operation of the press fleet, including the service supplier, to maximize an efficient and relevant use of the vehicles to gain positive exposure for Polestar’s products in media
- Manage the PR agency and leverage the relationship to maximize positive reach and coverage for Polestar and its products in media
The ideal candidate
To succeed in this role, and at Polestar in general, there are a few characteristics you'll need to have. The ability to take the initiative, to meet deadlines and requirements, and to abandon ideas when they're not feasible. You should be comfortable with working in a high-paced environment where changes on short notice are a regular occurrence. As a PR Manager, you also need to have a high degree of availability, even outside conventional working hours, to react to urgent questions or issues, as well as the capacity to handle peaks with higher workload. We think you possess personal qualities such as being diplomatic, assertive, convincing, service-minded, positive, a team player, a quick thinker and a natural storyteller.
In addition, you'll need the following qualifications:
- Previous experience with PR/external communication and acting as a spokesperson for a well-known brand and/or listed company is essential, as you will need to formulate effective communication and interact daily with external stakeholders to promote and represent the company in a positive way
- Higher education in a related field, such as Communications, Marketing, or Journalism is necessary to have a theoretical framework as a foundation
- An automotive background, interest in electric vehicle technology, understanding of journalism, and experience with project management is helpful, to have an understanding of the industry, the recipients of your communication, and to meet deadlines and deliverables
- Excellent written and verbal language skills in both Swedish and English, including presentation skills, as you will be creating, translating, adapting, proofreading, and presenting almost on a daily basis for both external and internal stakeholders
- A solid understanding of the Swedish media landscape, and an established network with relevant media, as you will need to pitch/place stories effectively and leverage your network on a regular basis
- Experience with Sales & Marketing in some capacity is also desired, to align your efforts with and support the ultimate mission of selling Polestar’s new and exciting electric performance vehicles
