Test Engineer - Battery Management
The opportunity
This position will be part of our BMS Software team and the Polestar Propulsion Department. This is a team with a mission to deliver results exceeding customers’ expectations. It is a diverse team of 15 colleagues (software engineers, calibration engineers, test engineers and system designers). The competence covers all different areas within BMS system and the team is highly involved in all areas related to development and testing.

This position is based at our office in Arendal (Gothenburg), Sweden.
The responsibilities
The responsibility spans from researching innovative test solutions to developing state-of-the-art battery management test software with test and release.
See below a breakdown of key tasks:
- Designing, developing and maintaining our HIL-rigs.
- Developing and automating testcases for the different environments (HIL, MIL, Lab)
- Supporting testing of the complete system in the vehicle.
- Manage beta-testing and establish data-driven closed-loop feedback of the performance, work with dashboards and metrics.
- Push us to create efficient use of all environments to fully test our developed functions and learn about cells and their behaviour.
Essentially, you will be one of our experts in improving our testing capabilities that will maximize attributes like range, charging performance, and energy efficiency while always prioritizing battery safety and system availability.
The ideal candidate
You have a strong will to create the future of electric vehicles – it’s probably fair to call you an EV nerd passionate about solving climate change. You are enthusiastic, motivated, well-organized, and driven. You are a fast learner and are not afraid to try new approaches and out-of-the-box methods. You have a holistic view, including vision, business, and customers.
To be successful and thrive in this role we believe you have:
- At least 5 years working in Electrical engineering and software development within the automotive industry.
- At least two years of battery software-specific experience.
- An education within electrical engineering or other equivalent university degree.
- Strong competence within Matlab/Simulink/Python/Azure programming
- Good competence in HIL-development, in particular ETAS/Vector/NI/Speedgoat tools (HW&SW)
- Great initiative and collaborative skills.
